DLB on Leprechaun

I’ve always been a fan of the LEPRECHAUN movies, and while I can see why some people hate them (The Arrow included), I’ve always just found them to be fun little ‘slashers’ with supernatural powers at work along the way. And blood. And boobs. And according to MTV Movies Blog, I’m not the only one with this closet love for the little green man with a bad attitude.

SAW III director Darren Lynn Bousman recently talked with MTV and expressed interest in directing yet another installment of the LEPRECHAUN series. No joke. In fact, Bousman actually had this to say about the series: It’s just one of those fun popcorn movies. I would love to bring back the fun popcorn movie – extreme violence, extreme absurdity – but make it fun.

But after going to space and to the hood (and back to the hood), where else can the evil little Leprechaun go? How about… to the wild wild west? That’s Bousman’s idea, and his pitch isn’t bad… check it out: You send him in a time machine and transport him to the old west. There are gold rushes. There are gunfights. It’s awesome! I have the whole thing already worked out!

Wow. Now how awesome would that be? I can actually really see LEPRECHAUN IN THE WEST happening for reals… though I don’t know if I can see Lionsgate paying top dollar for Bousman’s directing talents. But if it’s a labor of love, then I can see Bousman signing on just because, and not for the money…

To check out the full chat with Bousman, click HERE, and get ready for another LEPRECHAUN movie sometime soon… maybe. Unless, of course, Bousman was just joking around, which is entirely plausible at this point.
