Who dares? Legendary shock jock Howard Stern has been flapping his lips an awful lot lately, with some of his words being hard to believe. Earlier this week, Stern announced he’s thinking of running for President of the United States in the 2024 election, and he wants actor Bradley Cooper to be his running mate. Take that for what you will, though remember that stranger things have happened. Additionally, Stern recently let it slip that he’s shooting a Doctor Doom movie for Marvel, and he’s not happy about it.
Stern seemingly slipped up when, while taking a break on his Sirius XM show, he chatted with producer Gary Dell’Abate over a hot mic about his plans for the summer. The story goes that Stern didn’t know his microphone was still on when he began speaking about filming a Doctor Doom movie with Marvel. When his Sirius XM co-host Robin Quivers asked him about his summer plans, Stern replied, “Well, I’m gonna do Doctor Doom.” He seemed unenthusiastic about the supposed project, saying, “But believe me, I’m fucking miserable about it.”
After spilling the tea, Stern said he’s already reached out to MCU royalty Robert Downey Jr. for acting tips and plans to do the same with Iron Man director Jon Favreau.
For the record, Marvel has not announced any official plans for a project centered around Doctor Doom, the ruler of Latveria. Marvel may plan to promote the project at an upcoming event where they’ll reveal the studio’s Phase 5 initiative. Still, is Stern involved in the project? If he is, in what capacity?
There’s a rumor that Doctor Doom will appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with the villain having a minor role. In 2019, Legion creator Noah Hawley said he’s working on a Doctor Doom project for Marvel and described it as “a kind of Cold War, geopolitical movie.” No one has been able to confirm that Doctor Doom will appear in either project, though we could learn more when Marvel reveals its plans for Phase 5 of the MCU.
