Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Interview: Xochitl Gomez

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has grossed a massive $954.8 million globally, and it just recently arrived on Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 26, 2022. To celebrate its arrival, I got a chance to chat with Xochitl Gomez, who plays the scene-stealing America Chavez in the film. The actress more than holds her own against heavyweights like Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams, and she proved even more charming during our discussion.

Gomez plays a teenager who can travel between dimensions by punching open doorways. Her abilities make her another important addition to the MCU, and Gomez proves more than capable of bringing America Chavez to life. During our take, we discussed what it felt like to be in such a massive hit, which essentially kicked off our summer movie season this year, and we talked about what it was like working with the rest of the cast.

We also got to talk about working with director Sam Raimi, whom she said was a joy to work with and we discussed filming some of the movie’s action sequences and heavy scenes featuring special effects. Gomez wanted to do as many stunts as she could on her own, and you can tell her youthful exuberance made her believe she was up for the task.

Lastly, we talked about her MCU future, and even though she can’t give away Marvel secrets, who believes the possibilities are endless with her character, given her abilities and being able to travel between dimensions and universes. She said when she saw the MCU presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, she definitely wondered where her character would fit.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now on Disney+, Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD.
