Dolph Lundgren’s the son of Jason Statham in Uwe Boll’s In the Name of the King 2?

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Hey, ol’ MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE is back to dawn the sword again! Well not in a sequel or remake or anything but it’s just as good. Screen Junkies writes about an interested development: Dolph Lundgren is starring in the latest sequel to Uwe Boll’s IN THE NAME OF THE KING. Y’know the fight-fest with Statham swinging a pointy sword around. IN THE NAME OF THE KING 2 was already in talks to begin development soon but now with the lead role taken by Lundgren it’s going to pick up even faster.

So what does Lundgren have to say about the film? The big guy tells Screen Junkies some of the juicy bits: ”I play an ex-middle ages war veteran who gets f*cked up but he gets pulled into some sort of medieval power struggle, kind of gets a bit of a redemption for all his pains in service”, says Lundgren, still riding high on the success of “The Expendables”. “It’s a role I just wanted to [play.] It’s fun to exercise my acting chops once in a while. I’ve got to get ready for Expendables 2.”

He plays a guy, a descendant of one of the characters in the first film, who is sucked back through time to battle sword-wielding bad guys. Sounds like a similar movie he starred in called MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE. I don’t know what’s worse, a short British bald guy who knows how to kick your ass five times over holding a sword or a taller than your gym coach cage fighter who wants to break your brain in half holding a sword.

And now for the the what the f*ck of the day. Here’s a few words from Boll himself who tried to regurgitate a basic outline for Screen Junkies. Hopefully you’ll have more luck than they did: “like contemporary, right now big city, and we have Dolph Lundgren basically being a cop or like a fighting coordinator working as this, and one night he gets attacked by ninjas in his house and fell with the ninjas into a vortex back in time. And then it turns out it’s like 50 years after the first part IN THE NAME OF THE KING ended, and Ehb is destroyed and everybody is dead, Jason Statham and everybody who was in the first part, got wiped out. They say he was basically sent into the future he’s the son of Jason Statham, and he was sent into the future, brought up in an orphanage, because the parents felt that they would all die. So he is basically the last survivor of the kingdom of Ehb so he should bring the kingdom back in charge.”

Hey guess what? Natassia Malthe is also in the movie. So there you have it folks. We’ll bring forth the updates to you folks as they come along. IN THE NAME OF THE KING 2 will begin shooting sometime in early 2011 in Vancouver.

Don’t do it alone. Let Natassia Malthe help you polish your sword.
