While we await Sony’s next foray into the videogame-to-film adaptation jungle with SILENT HILL (which WILL kick ass I’m sure), Universal sent over the DVD specs for their attempt at taking one of the greatest franchises in videogame history, DOOM.
Set for release February 7th, DOOM will be available in rated and unrated flavours (gee, I wonder which one everyone’s going to get?). Exclusive to the Unrated Edition are the longer First-Person Shooter Sequence (which was one of the best parts of the movie, in my opinion) and Game On!, a basic training of sorts for those new to the game and looking for some tips on making it through (probably referring to Doom 3, but why not use GameFAQs?).
To be included on both editions is the Basic Training With The Rock featurette, where Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and the rest of the cast get put through combat training with military experts, the XBox demo for Doom 3, and much more (at least, that’s what the press release says). Hopefully the “much more” part includes some more in-depth featurettes, galleries and trailers, but we’ll have to wait and see.
