Double Dippin’ Chainsaw

If you haven’t bought your copy of the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, then I suggest you wait a few more months… it’s being released again, this time in a special edition 2 disc set!


Released by Dark Sky Films, the new edition will feature new commentary with stars Marilyn Burns, Alan Danzinger, and Paul A. Partain. And then a second commentary with director Tobe Hooper, DP Daniel Pearl, and star Gunnar Hansen- though this was one the previous DVD release. Cool beans anyhow! The disc is also set to contain a few deleted scenes, alternate footage, and a slew of trailers and TV spots. And that’s just disc one!


Disc two is lookin’ to kick ass with the documentary TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE SCHOCKING TRUTH, from director David Gregory, which he filmed in 2000. On it he goes to interview all of the CHAINSAW directors, and a bunch of other cool stuff that I can’t really tell you because it’s the first time it’s really been available on DVD. The disc contains another retrospective type featurette, as well as a buttload of other stuff that hasn’t fully been divulged yet.


Does it sound cool? I’m interested in the new documentary, but I hate the fact that they keep double dippin’ the classics, man! They did it with the entire EVIL DEAD series, they did it with HALLOWEEN, and I’m gettin’ sick of it. Nowadays, I don’t even buy new release DVDs, because I know that in a few months, another cooler edition packed with more shit than ever before will come out, and I’ll feel gyped, and compelled to buy it again because I’m missing out on something. Well f*ck that. I’m sick of the double dip, as I’m sure most of you are to. But what can we do about it? Nothing. The bitches.
