It may be December 30th, but there are still Christmas presents to be had! Apple is giving away, as part of their holiday promotion, a free item every day for twelve days. Today’s gift is a free copy of Martin Scorsese‘s 2011 film HUGO. Nominated for a bunch of awards, including Best Picture, HUGO is one of Scorsese’s best movies as well as his first to be shot digitally and 3D. Featuring Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Lee, Emily Mortimer, Jude Law, Ray Winstone, Richard Griffiths, and Sacha Baron Cohen, HUGO is a must see.

I recently ranked HUGO as one of the top five movies in Scorsese’s filmography and for good reason. It is his most ambitious and gorgeously filmed movie to date. It is an epic adventure appropriate for all ages and is an ode to the movies of George Melies, one of the directors who revolutionized the art form.

Whether you have an iPod or iPad or not, download iTunes now and get a copy of HUGO. At the very least you can watch it on your desktop and bask in Scorsese’s ode to the magic of film.
