While this may be the first, it sure as shite won’t be the last, as downloading movies from the internet (via iTunes or whatnot) is the latest and greatest way to get movies to you… without leaving the house. Of course, generally speaking, the time it takes to download the frickin’ thing, would be about the same to head on down to your local video store, browse through all the aisles, and pick something out- but dang it, that’s just not as cool!
Actually, I lied- it is as cool, if not cooler. Especially since your options are quite limited when it comes to downloading movies on the internet, and video stores have tons of selection… and I’m not just saying this because I work at a video store, either! But back to the subject at hand… AOL RED, a ‘hotspot’ for teens on the web (ie, a site for teeny-boppers), is hosting the first ever exclusive downloadable movie! And what’s ‘hot’ right now? Horror movies, of course!
The flick, starring the party queen who brings elegance to ‘shit-faced drunk’, Tara Reid, is called INCUBUS, and it goes a little something like this: In 1995 the CIA suddenly abandoned its 20-year research into paranormal phenomena including mind control, out of body experience and lucid dreaming. The results of the study are still classified.
Fast forward to present day. On a stormy night, six teenagers break into what they think is an abandoned factory to seek shelter. They quickly find themselves trapped and realize too late, that THEY ARE NOT ALONE! Suspended in a triple-locked, shatter-proof clear cube, is a comatose patient, undergoing testing and experimentation. The bizarre patient and his horrific powers hold the key to their escape and ultimately their survival.
Judging from the poster, I’d say this will likely be the dumbest movie of the year. But YOU can download and own it forever for just $7.99, or rent it for 5 days for only $3.49- the choice is yours! Man, I really feel for Reid… she went from being on top of the world with shite like AMERICAN PIE and THE BIG LEBOWSKI, to straight to internet movies… well, at least she had her own TV show, right?
No telling if Reid’s boobs make an appearance, or if there will be a high body count with lots of blood and gore, but as it’s on a teen website… I doubt it.
