Dracula TV series finds its female lead: Jessica De Gouw

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

NBC has found a leading lady for Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ bloodthirsty Count Dracula.

According to Deadline, Australian actress (aren’t most actors in Hollywood Australian nowadays?) Jessica De Gouw has joined “Dracula” and will play Mina Murray, a striking medical student. Of course, Mina is the reincarnation of Dracula’s long dead beloved, so she instantly attracts his deadly attention.

De Gouw was recently seen on the CW’s “Arrow” as Oliver Queen’s nemesis/love interest The Huntress. She’s primarily been based in Australia prior to this.

In the show, produced by Tony Krantz’s Flame Ventures, Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment,
Dracula (Meyers) arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

No word on when NBC plans on unleashing this killer, but next year seems a good bet.
