Duff’s in Deep

Word has just escaped on a new horror/thriller that just started shooting back on May 5th called DEEP COVE. This one automatically gets attention for scoring the coveted “trifecta of hotties” for its cast! Said hotties come in the form of Haylie (just as cute as her sister Hilary) Duff (above), Jessica Harmon (BLACK CHRISTMAS, below), and Lucy Hale (below). Because of this, the somewhat familiar plot below seems perfectly tolerable:

Five students on spring break meet at a secluded island cabin for a weekend getaway. After a night of music, drinking and getting re-acquainted the five friends are shocked to find the cabin’s caretaker murdered and the only boat off the island gone. Stranded on the island they become the prey of a mysterious killer who seems bent on revenge for something the friends have done. They must defend themselves and find their tormentor or face death one by one.

Wow, I spied numerous components for a basic horror cocktail: Spring Break. Five Students. Secluded Cabin. Stranded on Island. Revenge Killer. You’d think they were remaking I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, but who would do something as stupid as that?

Let’s hope that director Michael Storey and writer Jeff Martel are looking to add a little depth to this COVE. The flick does star some guys too, who will mostly likely be looking to score with the “hottie trifecta” already mentioned. Those horndogs will be played by Aaron Ashmore, Kyle Schmid, and Jacob Blair. Filming is set to wrap on May 30th on the way toward a 2008 release.
