STYD learned of some interesting news today: Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes are teaming up to produce… no, not a remake this time… THE BUTCHERHOUSE CHRONICLES! The what???
THE BUTCHERHOUSE CHRONICLES sounds like your run of the mill haunted house story revolving around a group of teenagers who head out to explore the town’s haunted house, only to uncover some very dark secrets. It’s not that it sounds all that exciting or ou of the ordinary, but damnit–at least it’s not a flippin’ remake! Although, as it was originally a play (check it out HERE), so it isn’t entirely original either, but we’ll take it where we can!
Meetings are currently underway to find a director to take on the script by Michael Hidalgo. Given Platinum Dunes’ love of landing music video directors, I can only imagine who they’ll snag for this one. That said, while I can’t stand all the damn remakes they crank out, I think Dunes has a lot of potential to make something really great–let’s hope this is the vehicle for that greatness.
