Couldn’t get enough Master of Horror? Get some for your personal convinence.

GODZILLA

The king of monsters, Godzilla is finally making it’s way to U.S. soil. By that I mean the 1954 Japanese Version entitled “Gojira”, which if you say in a Japanese accent, sounds like Godzilla (useless waste of time moment). Classic Media will release the 98-minute version of the film in a two-pack that also comes complete with Godzilla: King of Monsters.

Honda’s film was trimmed of about 40 minutes (including numerous scenes pointing up the story’s H-bomb metaphors) and dubbed for the American cut, which also included newly filmed scenes with actor Raymond Burr. No news on any supplements or features, but we do know that both films are being remastered in High Definition.

GUARDIAN OF THE REALM

Velocity Home Entertainment will release Guardian of the Realm, starring the sultry Tanya Dempsey. The DVD will be released on June 13th. Here’s a short synopsis of the film:

Josh Griffin and Alex Marlowe, the C.O.R.E.’s unrivaled demon hunters,” according to the synopsis. The duo “are on the trail of an occult group known as The Brotherhood, who have stolen a mysterious ancient artifact and have unwittingly released a powerful evil into the world: the ancient demon god Virago. Virago plans to open a doorway to the underworld, unleashing a horde of demons to take over the living world. Now, it is up to Alex and Josh to find Virago and stop him before the forces of evil strike. Anytime there are a group of demon hunters, things can get bloody, which is essentially a very good thing.

Included:

  • Filmmaker commentary
  • Behind-the-scenes footage
  • Blooper reel
  • Trailer gallery

As the leading member of the Boner Club, I announce Tanya Dempsey as sure-fire Top Ten whack off material, or in polite terms, a truly beautiful woman.

HOLLOWMAN 2

In the latest segment of “Where are they now?”, we now have a Christian Slater sighting. It seems he will be starring in the upcoming Direct-to-Video sequel of Hollow Man, which also marked the return of “washed up” Kevin Bacon. Sony Home Entertainment will be releasing the film on May 23rd.

The film tells the story of a Seattle detective and a biologist, who go on the run from a dangerous invisible assassin gone rogue, as well as the government forces that created him. The synopsis sounds cool, but can they make it work, or will it just be another Christian Slater fuck up?

Includes:

  • Widescreen Presentation
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 English
  • English and Spanish Subtitles
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Visual Effects featurette

If I we’re to judge the movie by it’s cover, I would say it’s going to be an unoriginal, bland and cheesy attempt at making a good movie. But as they say, don’t smoke crack, or judge a book by it’s cover or something. Just pre-order the damn thing. Chrisitan Slater will thank you…with some crack.

That’s it for this installment in DVD Buzz-Saw , check back in the next column for news on MORE HORROR DVD NEWS.
