Early Hills Look

The good folks over at IGN FilmForce have posted an early script review of Alexander Aja’s (HAUTE TENSION), remake of Wes Craven’s seminal classic, THE HILLS HAVE EYES. It’s a nice, positive report and will definitely have fans ready and waiting for this one to hit theaters.

I was surprised at how engrossed I became in this script. I expected very little from it but, like the recent remake of Dawn of the Dead, I found The Hills creepy and thrilling enough to recommend (even to non-horror fans).

The story works because, despite its preposterous villains and rather contrived premise, the family of protagonists are so average and identifiable. While the Carters may be thinly drawn, I understood what they represent – Civilization vs. Savagery – and cared what happened to them.
