You know… graphic novels are actually a pretty impressive type of art. Feature length-sized stories crammed into a comic book with storyboards throughout. It’s no wonder so many graphic novels are being adapted into films. And thankfully a lot of them kick ass!

My hope is that this latest adaptation announcement kicks some major ass! I’m talking about Zenoscope’s WONDERLAND, which according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed blog has just been snatched up by Lionsgate TV for an adaptation after an intense six-studio bidding war. I’m not talking a film adaptation folks. Nope! Instead we’ll be getting a TV series based on this shite! Nice!

The title, which ranks among the top 10 independent comics released in the past five years, is a modern retelling of Lewis Carroll’s 1865 novel Alice in Wonderland told from the point of view of Alice’s daughter. It’s based on the series of graphic novels — Return to Wonderland, Escape From Wonderland and Beyond Wonderland — created and written by Zenescope co-founders Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco and Raven Gregory.

Brian Robbins will be shepherding this thing as executive producer. Hopes are to score an established actress for ‘Alice’ while bringing on a newcomer for the role of her daughter. A search is currently underway for someone to write this shindig.

As soon as we hear more regarding this very intriguing “Wonderland” project you will too.
