Early in the production of the sixth TERMINATOR film, TERMINATOR: DARK FATE, we caught word that Brett Azar and Jude Collie had been cast as CGI stand-ins for younger versions of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Edward Furlong in scenes that take place during the time of TERMINATOR 2. Furlong's involvement with TERMINATOR: DARK FATE was confirmed at the San Diego Comic Con back in July – indicating that we might be seeing Furlong as an adult John Connor in the film as well, not just his T2-era face stuck on Collie.

Earlier this month, Furlong was a guest at the Silicon Valley Comic Con, and during a panel Randy Jennings of TheArnold Fans was able to ask him about his work on TERMINATOR: DARK FATE. Furlong responded that he is glad to be returning to the franchise, "really happy to be doing it".

I’m not allowed to say anything, but yeah, yeah man, I mean it’s a small role but it’s, you know, I’m in there, man! I’m in there."

Furlong has admitted that he was supposed to be in TERMINATOR 3 back in 2003, but "done f*cked that shit up" due to his battle with addiction. Thankfully, Furlong is turning his life around and has been sober for over a year at this point, so hopefully this TERMINATOR: DARK FATE role is the start of some great things for him.

TERMINATOR: DARK FATE was produced by James Cameron, writer/director of THE TERMINATOR and T2, and ignores every sequel that has followed. So even if Furlong had returned for TERMINATOR 3, the events of that film don't matter for this one. Cameron also crafted the story with David S. Goyer, Justin Rhodes, Charles Eglee, and Josh Friedman. Goyer, Rhodes, and Billy Ray then fleshed that story out into a screenplay.

Directed by DEADPOOL's Tim Miller, the film stars Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, Natalia Reyes as heroine Dani, Diego Boneta as Dani's brother, Gabriel Luna as a Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger as a bearded Terminator, and Mackenzie Davis as "machine fighter" Grace.

TERMINATOR: DARK FATE is set to reach theatres on November 1st.
