Edward Zwick’s Glory to march back onto the big screen this summer

This July director Edward Zwick's Civil War epic, GLORY, is lining up to march back into theaters for the first time since its initial release in 1989. Once hailed by film critic Leonard Maltin as "one of the finest historical dramas ever made," GLORY stars Matthew Broderick (FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, GODZILLA), Oscar winner Denzel Washington (MAN ON FIRE, TRAINING DAY), Cary Elwes (THE PRINCESS BRIDE, SAW), Andre Braugher (BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, THE MIST), Jihmi Kennedy (THE DREAM TEAM, GUNG HO) and Morgan Freeman (LEAN ON ME, ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES), amongst others.

Fathom Events is teaming with TCM Big Screen Classics to bring Zwick's classic war film to more than 600 screens for two days only, on July 21 and July 24 — 156 years after the Second Battle of Fort Wagner, the Union assault on a Confederate stronghold that forms the film's climax (and which began on July 18, 1863). The film focuses on Robert Gould Shaw (Broderick), as he leads the U.S. Civil War's first all-black volunteer company, fighting prejudices from both his own Union Army, and the Confederates.

As an added bonus, TCM Primetime host Ben Mankiewicz will be in attendance to provide special pre- and post-film insight.

Word of Fathom hosting a two-time presentation of GLORY comes shortly after the theater company screened Steven Spielberg's SAVING PRIVATE RYAN on June 2 and June 5 of this year for a special anniversary celebration.
