Elizabeth Olsen has some ideas for her MCU future and that’s getting involved with the X-Men when they join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More specifically, she wants Sir Ian McKellen’s Magneto to be the Scarlet Witch’s father.

During a recent interview with Geek Culture, Olsen told the site that she wants Ian McKellen’s version of Magneto to be her father. When she was asked who she wanted Olsen said, “Oh…[laughs] I’m gonna go with Sir Ian McKellen. I had the biggest crush on him. He’s in these videos called Playing Shakespeare where actors get together and they do a Shakespeare…It’s a video series. He’s like the sexiest man in the world so I would say Sir Ian McKellen.”

Sir Ian McKellen apparently ran across the interview and he’s down with the idea too. In his response on Facebook the actor said, “If I had a daughter, I’d hope she’d be like Elizabeth. A treat to be her Daddy!” It’s a fun little exchange between actors but the Scarlet Witch and Magneto being related scenario is something they can explore if they choose to.

At one point, Magneto found the orphaned Wanda and her brother Pietro (Quicksilver) and believed that their unexplained powers were the result of them being mutants. He recruited them into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and they served on that team as sort of reluctant villains when they made their debut in 1964’s “X-Men” #4, which was by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. They worked alongside Magneto for a brief time before leaving the Brotherhood and redeeming themselves by becoming members of the Avengers.

Changes were frequently made to the identities of their birth parents throughout their history. The status quo seemed to settle on the fact that they were the children of Magneto and his wife Magda. Minor alterations were made to this idea and it has been retconned for decades. Perhaps most famously, the relationship between Wanda and Magneto took center stage in a big way in Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel’s major event, “House of M”, in 2005. In that story, Wanda becomes so mentally unstable that she creates a world ruled by Magneto before de-powering most of the mutants around the world. Some have speculated that the current incarnation of the character could be headed in this direction. There have been even more retcons after this but we could very well see Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch closely tied to Magneto in some way once they introduce the X-Men.

Would YOU want to see Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch mix it up with Magneto?
