The great cast for Martin Scorsese’s upcoming 3D family film (both firsts for the legendary filmmaker) continues to grow.

Emily Mortimer (MY IDIOT BROTHER, SHUTTER ISLAND) and Michael Stuhlbarg (“Boardwalk Empire”, A SERIOUS MAN) are the latest two to join HUGO CABRET, Scorsese’s adaptation of Brian Selznick’s best-seller The Invention of Hugo Cabret, which just recently began filming in London. The actors join an already formidable cast which includes the likes of Asa Butterfield, Chloe Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jude Law, Christopher Lee, and Ray Winstone.

The film, according to THR’s Heat Vision, “centers on Hugo (Asa Butterfield), an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. When he encounters a broken machine, an eccentric girl (Chloe Moretz) and a cold, reserved man (Ben Kingsley) who runs a toy shop, he is caught up in a magical, mysterious adventure that could put all of his secrets in jeopardy.” Mortimer will play the station’s flower shop girl, Lisette, and Stuhlbarg will play Rene Tabard, a film restorer.

HUGO CABRET is set to open December 9, 2011.
