R.L. Stine’s Fear Street trilogy adds Emily Rudd & McCabe Slye

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

One of the top flicks I'm looking forward to is the upcoming three-film adaptation of GOOSEBUMPS author R.L. Stine's FEAR STREET. We already let you guys know that the movies have snagged their cast with Olivia Welch, Kiana Madeira, Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger, Julie Rehwald, Jeremy Ford, Sadie Sink, and Gillian Jacobs. And today we have word that Emily Rudd (see above) and McCabe Slye (see below) have joined the cast.

Both will make their first appearance in the second installment, which is set in 1978. Rudd will play Sadie Sink’s older sister. Slye will take on two roles: He plays Bobby Slater, described as a Springsteen-ish burnout who works at a summer camp, while in the third film, which takes place in 1666, he plays Mad Thomas, a creepy town drunk who stokes the town’s hysteria. Here's a quick plot synopsis for the three films:

FEAR STREET Movie #1:

In 1994, in the aftermath of a brutal tragedy in Shadyside, Ohio, a group of teens discovers that a series of horrifying events that have plagued their town over many years might not be random and that they may be the next victims.

FEAR STREET Movie #2:

In 1978, Camp Nightwing is divided by the campers and counselors who hail from the of prosperous town of Sunnyvale and the campers and maintenance staffers from the downtrodden town of Shadyside, but when horrors from their towns shared history come alive, they must band together to solve a terrifying mystery before it’s too late.

FEAR STREET Movie #3:

In 1666, a colonial town is gripped by a hysterical witch-hunt that has deadly consequences for centuries to come, and it’s up to teenagers in 1994 to try and finally put an end to their town’s curse, before it’s too late.

FEAR STREET will be a trilogy and the individual movies are set to eventually be released one after the other. What that means exactly has yet to be seen given that Fox is now under Disney ownership. Leigh Janiak (HONEYMOON) will direct all three flicks and oversaw a writer’s room for the trilogy – which is said to have included Phil Graziadei, Zak Olkewicz, Roberto Patino, and Kate Trefry (STRANGER THINGS) – and will ultimately be among the writers credited. Chernin Entertainment will produce the trilogy and 20th Century Fox exec Jason Young will oversee on behalf of the studio. We'll let you know when we hear more. The movie is now shooting in Atlanta. Are you excited about this FEAR STREET trilogy? Let us know below!
