Entertainment Weekly covers give us a soaking wet look at Aquaman

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

At long last, we've finally beginning to see more of James Wan's AQUAMAN. This morning saw the release of a handful of images from the film courtesy of Entertainment Weekly which included our first looks at Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe), and more. Entertainment Weekly also revealed two covers for their AQUAMAN spread, which gives us fresh looks at Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Mera (Amber Heard), and Queen Atlanna. Check 'em out below!

I am pumped. I know Warner Bros. doesn't have the greatest track-record with their DC movies lately, especially after JUSTICE LEAGUE, but I'm keeping an open mind that James Wan will deliver something fun. The director also said that he's hoping AQUAMAN will be unlike anything we've seen before. "The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it’s like I’m making my own sci-fi fantasy film," Wan said. "This is a whole new underwater world nobody has seen before in live action." As fantastic as AQUAMAN may prove to be, executive producer Peter Safran says that Jason Momoa's performance as the title character will prove to be the film's biggest surprise.

Rarely has a superhero character been married to the real-life actor as much as Aquaman and Jason Momoa. He’s authentically from two worlds, he’s this real physical specimen, he’s got this humor which he’s never been allowed to play before — in every regard he is Aquaman.

AQUAMAN will hit theaters on December 21, 2018, but you can expect JoBlo.com's own set coverage of the film to surface quite soon. Keep an eye out.
