Sweet news amigos. The Weinstein Co. has locked up the rights to 80’s TV show THE EQUALIZER. Unlike most TV show adaptations, this one has much potential to kick serious ass.
The show starred Brit thesp Edward Woodward as Robert McCall, a veteran covert operative who — seeking redemption for his dark deeds — quits a CIA-like agency and puts an ad in the paper that reads: “Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer.”
He then proceeded to clean house with style and ferocity. Think Hannibal Lecter meets The A-Team. Hopefully they will allow the project to expand to all of its R-rated glory on the big screen, and not do something stupid like cast somebody in their 20’s as the lead.
