Ethan Hawke gets his ass to Mars for Total Recall

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ethan Hawke has joined the cast of Len Wiseman’s TOTAL RECALL in an unspecified role. Said role is apparently not more than a cameo, and since this version is markedly different from the 1990 Paul Verhoeven film, I don’t think we can necessarily associate him with any characters in the earlier flick.

Hawke joins Colin Farrell, Bokeem Woodbine and Bryan Cranston in TOTAL RECALL, as well as two as-yet-unidentified ladies (though reports have suggested that Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are the top two contenders to play devious wife Lori and asskicking rebel Melina, respectively).

The new story involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.

Shooting will commence on the action film in Toronto in June. It has an AUGUST 3, 2012 release date set.
