We're now less than a month away from the release of LIGHTS OUT, director David F. Sandberg's feature expansion of the 3 minute short he made a couple years ago. To get audiences prepared for this summertime terror, distributor Warner Bros. has put out a new trailer for the film that can be seen below.

Produced by James Wan and written by Eric Heisserer, LIGHTS OUT stars Teresa Palmer and Gabriel Bateman as siblings Rebecca and Martin.

When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn’t real when the lights went out… and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged. But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger… once the lights go out.

Palmer and Bateman's co-stars include Alexander DiPersia, Billy Burke, and Maria Bello.

There are some great looking sequences on display in this trailer, and if you like the works of Wan it seems like LIGHTS OUT is going to be right up your alley. Wan and WB/New Line were so satisfied with what Sandberg delivered here that they have also hired him to direct ANNABELLE 2.

LIGHTS OUT reaches theatres on July 22nd.
