Remember not too long ago, when I told you about the new medieval horror flick called THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR? Well when I wrote that story, I expressed my love for anything medieval, anything horror, and especially the crossing of the two.
Well it looks like we might actually have another medieval horror flick to look forward to… sort of.
The Hollywood Reporter drops the news that the spec script ROUNDTABLE was just picked up by DreamWorks for $650,000 against $1 mil. ROUNDTABLE comes from LOST writer Brian K. Vaughan and apparently was the cause of quite the bidding war.
ROUNDTABLE is a supernatural comedy about Merlin assembling a bunch of modern-day knights to battle a resurrected ancient evil, only to discover that today’s knights are all washed-up athletes, cowardly scientists or Academy Award-winning actors.
Alright… so maybe it’s not exactly medieval… but that sounds like some damn fun! Consider me hooked already. Here’s hoping Vaughan has a decent balance of supernatural and comedy. Considering the man is one of the mind’s behind LOST as well as comics RUNAWAYS, Y: THE LAST MAN, and EX MACHINA… I think we’ll be okay.
