In addition to The Mandalorian, Disney/Lucasfilm has several other STAR WARS TV shows in development for the Disney+ streaming service, including one centered around Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ewan McGregor is slated to reprise the role of the Jedi Master for a story that will be set between REVENGE OF THE SITH and A NEW HOPE. Unfortunately, development on the Obi-Wan series hasn't been entirely smooth and the COVID-19 pandemic hasn't helped in that regard, but McGregor is hopeful that he'll be stepping back into Kenobi's robes early next year.

The actor recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight to say that production on the series is slated to kick off next spring. "I'm really excited about it," said McGregor. "It's gonna be great, I think." While The Mandalorian will likely span multiple seasons, McGregor said that he's not aware of any plans for a second season of the Obi-Wan series. "As I understand, it's a standalone season," he said. "We'll see. Who knows?" Given that Ewan McGregor is one busy actor, it's understandable that the series is being developed as a standalone story, but McGregor is wise enough to never say never.

Speaking of The Mandalorian, the second season of the series will debut on Disney+ next month and will arrive with a few very interesting additions to the cast, including Michael Biehn (THE TERMINATOR) as "a bounty hunter from The Mando's past," Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) as Bo-Katan Kryze, a Mandalorian warrior, Temuera Morrison (AQUAMAN) as Boba Fett, and Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood) as Cobb Vanth, a character introduced in Chuck Wendig's "Aftermath" series who wears Boba Fett's armour. There have also been major rumours which have pointed to Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) playing Ahsoka Tano, the former Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker who turned into a spymaster for the Rebel Alliance. The second season of The Mandalorian will launch on Disney+ on October 30, 2020.
