Over the past few years Scott Derrickson has become one of the most exciting names in horror. In THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE, he brought a religious-themed thriller to a new level of class. As well, he created seriously scary suspense in the 2012 hit SINISTER. Recently he tackled another based on a true story supernatural thriller with DELIVER US FROM EVIL. This tale of a NY police officer who came face to face with scary demonic energy is perfect material for the writer-director.
Recently I sat down with both Derrickson as well as Ralph Sarchie, the real life officer who wrote the book on which the film is based – and the man who Eric Bana portrays in the film. We first discussed Sarchie’s involvement in the production and just how closely Sarchie was involved. Next up Derrickson discussed why he was inclined to tackle another story about exorcism.
