Kevin James stretches his horror muscles in Becky

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

While Kevin James has done some serious dramatic acting in his previous roles (even in stuff like PAUL BLART: MALL COP), he's never really done a completely serious dramatic role (even his Happy Madison buddy Adam Sandler recently gained critical acclaim for his role in the thriller UNCUT GEMS). That is, until now. James has recently been cast to play against type as the heavy in the home invasion thriller BECKY, also starring Lulu Wilson (ANNABELLE: CREATION) and Joel McHale (MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE).

Here's the official synopsis:

The plot centers on spunky and rebellious Becky (Wilson) who is brought to a weekend getaway at a lake house by her father Jeff (McHale) in an effort to try to reconnect. The trip immediately takes a turn for the worse when a group of convicts on the run, led by the merciless Dominick (James), suddenly invade the lake house.

BECKY was supposed to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, but for obvious reasons that plan fell through. However, you will still be able catch the film on video and on-demand June 5th from Quiver Distribution and Redbox Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Berry Meyerowitz, co-president of Quiver, stated of Kevin's performance:

Kevin James is known for his amazing collection of standup and comedic roles from films such as Paul Blart: Mall Cop and his TV series The King of Queens. In Becky, Kevin delivers a chilling performance in his first villainous role, especially playing against rising star Lulu Wilson in an epic head-to-head battle. We are thrilled to bring Becky to audiences so they can see Kevin in a whole new light.

So what do you guys think? You down for a villainous turn from Kevin James? Either way, sound off below!
