Next Friday, March 17th, will see the release of one of my most highly anticipated genre movies of the year, the Greg McLean-directed, James Gunn-scripted film THE BELKO EXPERIMENT. The concept of this movie, which has been described as “BATTLE ROYALE meets OFFICE SPACE”, seems perfectly designed to deliver intense drama and maximum mayhem.

The synopsis:

An American company in South America is mysteriously sealed off at the beginning of a workday, its employees ordered to kill each other or be killed themselves. This starts an escalation of violence, where we discover the true nature of each and every Belko employee.

Our own JimmyO recently got to sit down with Gunn to discuss the film, and over the course of their conversation JimmyO asked a question that tends to come up when horror movies are involved – if the movie does well, what are the chances of a sequel?

As it turns out, this is something Gunn has already been planning for:

I have it all in my head. I’ve got the next two in my head. If people want the sequel I will give them the sequel.”

So if all goes well, we might have a BELKO trilogy to look forward to. But before Gunn can get to work writing those sequels, we’ll need to turn out to see THE BELKO EXPERIMENT when it’s released next weekend.

THE BELKO EXPERIMENT stars John Gallagher Jr., Tony Goldwyn, Adria Arjona, Michael Rooker, Melonie Diaz, John C. McGinley, Sean Gunn, Owain Yeoman, David Dastmalchian, Gail Bean, Valentine Miele, Steve Agee, Josh Brener, David Del Rio, Stephen Blackehart, Rusty Schwimmer, James Earl, Brent Sexton, Mikaela Hoover, Joe Fria, Benjamin Byron Davis, Abraham Benrubi, and Cindy Better.
