Exclusive: JoBlo.com’s Guide to Mad Max

It's hard to believe it's been thirty years since the last MAD MAX movie, but sure enough MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the character's first time on film in three decades. By now, everyone knows that the part's been recast – James Bond-style – with Tom Hardy replacing Mel Gibson as the titular hero. What's remarkable is that the man behind the camera – George Miller – is the same guy who directed/produced the original trilogy, giving this a sense of continuity and legitimacy.

However, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is not a reboot. The film is faithful to the original series and – according to Miller – takes place sometime between the end of THE ROAD WARRIOR and MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME. While many of us here are devoted to the MAD MAX series, it also occurred to us that some of our millennial readers may not be caught up. To ensure all of you get the most out of FURY ROAD, and to give some of the hardcore fans a refresher/blast from the past, we here at JoBlo.com have put together this little video tribute to the series. Hopefully it'll encourage all of you out there to binge on the original films before going to FURY ROAD as it's a dynamic series that serves up some of the most kick-ass action movies ever made.
