Today we have another exclusive featurette for the upcoming YA adaptation THE MAZE RUNNER, which features a set of character pieces that introduce us to some of the key players of the film. Directed by Wes Ball and starring Dylan O'Brien (Teen Wolf), Kaya Scodelario (Skins), Will Poulter (WE'RE THE MILLERS), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones), and Patricia Clarkson, the film is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi tale based on the novel of the same name by James Dashner, which spawned two sequels, "The Scorch Trials" and "The Death Cure," as well as a prequel, called "The Kill Order."

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

When Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) wakes up trapped in a massive maze with a group of other boys, he has no memory of the outside world other than strange dreams about a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D. Only by piecing together fragments of his past with clues he discovers in the maze can Thomas hope to uncover his true purpose and a way to escape. Based upon the best-selling novel by James Dashner.

While the YA market continues to grow and crowd the marketplace with some taking flight and others going down in flames, THE MAZE RUNNER seems like a promising entry. It could go either way, but so far I'm intrigued by all that I've seen. It feels more like an adventure pic that sidesteps the romance angle that typically mires the genre and I'm certainly game for a film series that delivers more on thrills than sappy chills. Fingers crossed.

THE MAZE RUNNER hits theaters on September 19, 2014.
