We’ve heard a few new names being added to the cast of THE EXPENDABLES 2 that make sense like Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme and John Travolta, but according to a new “wish list” via Moviehole, that’s not all they want.
There are a few names on the list that raise a few eyebrows, but it is important to note that offers haven’t actually been sent out to these people. It’s just a list of those they’d want if money was no object.
Among the picks are Taylor Lautner, Christopher Lambert, Nicolas Cage and Christian Slater. I can’t say any of these inspire much except skepticism from me. Lautner is in no way proven as an action star, but if they wanted to add an “up and comer” to the list, I suppose he would qualify. Lambert was great in his Highlander days, but I don’t think he’d be recognized by most. Nicolas Cage does not qualify as an action star in my book, despite him desperately trying to be. You can be in action movies, but that doesn’t necessarily make you an action star. And don’t get me started on Christian Slater these days.
I don’t know, perhaps this is just me, but these names don’t fit the way Norris and Van Damme do. I’m still pulling for Tony Jaa, but I think he quit acting to be a monk or something.
