Set against the antebellum South, THE BIRTH OF A NATION follows Nat Turner, a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner, accepts an offer to use Nat's preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities – against himself and his fellow slaves – Nat orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom.
THE BIRTH OF A NATION is one of the many films that Fox showed off at this year's CinemaCon (check out our impressions HERE), and it's easy to see why. It's definitely one of the more powerful trailers I've seen this year, with the acting and visual aesthetics looking top-notch. It wouldn't be difficult to imagine some Academy Award nominations in the future for this one.
THE BIRTH OF A NATION will be released on October 7, 2016.
