INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE has been dropping trailers like bombs lately, but this newest promotional clip is by far my favorite. Disguised as a news broadcast, it's a fun bit of in-universe marketing that features all the main cast giving interviews as their characters. It exposes the mechanics of the movie universe in detail, exploring the new technologies we'll be seeing in use during the next explosive chapter in this alien invasion franchise. Directed by Roland Emmerich from a script he wrote with his INDEPENDENCE DAY co-writer Dean Devlin, with further work by James Vanderbilt, James A. Woods, and Nicolas Wright, INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE has the following synopsis: 

We always knew they were coming back.  After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale.  Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet.  But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force.  Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

The film stars Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hemsworth, Joey King, Maika Monroe, DeObia Oparei, Jessie Usher, Sela Ward, and William Fichtner.

This long-awaited sequel is set to reach theatres on June 24, 2016, twenty years after the first film.
