Extended Crisis trailer brings death and destruction to the Arrowverse

Hold onto your capes and brace yourselves for impact, because The CW has released a new extended trailer for their upcoming Arrowverse crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earths!"

As the trailer begins, we find the Arrowverse on the brink of destruction, with characters hailing from all five of the network's superhero series unable to cope with their world-ending circumstances. As several of our heroes bid each other a fond farewell, you can hear the pain in their voices as they seemingly accept defeat. It's a particularly grim way for a trailer to the year's biggest superhero television event to play out, but perhaps the mood will change in due time? Nope! In fact, the next image we see is of a giant monitor that bears the shocking headline "Lex Luthor Kills Man of Steel …" Suffering Sappho! If there's a happy ending to this mess, I've yet to see it.

As the trailer plays on, we learn that a massive cloud of dark energy is devouring Earths of the Multiverse, one-by-one. This of course places a Doomsday Clock above the heads of our heroes, who must band together if they're to stand any chance of winning the day. As the sands of time steadily rain down, the new footage treats us to a cameo from Star Trek alum Will Wheaton, who guests as a fired-up doomsday prepper for the event. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Kevin Conroy's Bruce Wayne, as well as the Anti-Monitor's Shadow Demons, who come flying out of the sky like a swarm of death-dealing locusts. All of this is enough to get your comic book loving blood pumping for sure, and the event hasn't even started yet!

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" kicks off this Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with SUPERGIRL, then continues in BATWOMAN on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in THE FLASH on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. After a brief winter break, the crossover will conclude on Tuesday, Jan. 14 beginning with ARROW at 8 p.m. ET/PT followed by DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
