Extinction starring Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan pulled from release

Darn. I was really looking forward to checking out Universal's upcoming alien invasion thriller EXTINCTION. Not only does the film star Michale Pena, Lizzy Caplan and Emily Booth, but the film is directed by Ben Young who helmed the stellar HOUNDS OF LOVE.

But it seems like we are all going to have to wait a bit longer to see the movie as Universal has pulled EXTINCTION from it January 26th, 2018 release date. Evidently, the change will allow the studio to “explore other options.”

No further reasons were given for Universal pulling the film's release a mere two months before it was set to hit. Also, there isn't currently a plan for when the film will see release. But we'll keep you up to date.

I made the joke elsewhere, but still, I think it's relevant that the movie should just be picked up by Paramount and released as a CLOVERFIELD sequel called CLOVERFIELD: EXTINCTION.

Like a prequel to Lizzy Caplan's story. Actually, I don't know if I'm joking…
