Falcon’s Pieces & Diary

Some interesting news today from writer/director Anthony Falcon, whose first foray into horror, 99 PIECES, received a coveted 4-star rating from The Pub (see the review here)! Well, first off, PIECES just got picked up for distribution by Vanguard Cinema. It will be bowing on DVD soon with a fair amount of extras. Piece together the plot:

Joshua Licet leads a normal life, with a normal job and a normal wife. But when he wakes up one morning with his wife missing and a puzzle to solve we find out his life is not so normal. Joshua Licet must reconnect with his life and discover a puzzle of lies and deception about himself, his wife and his family in order to stay alive for 40 days and nights while he must live through starvation and horror.

Now on to the next cool piece of info regarding Mr. Falcon—the scoop on his second completed flick! It’s called THE DIARY OF MICHAEL RICHARD PAUL and it’s being touted as the most f*cked up love story every filmed. It also boasts one seriously sick twist: the entire feature was conceived and shot without any script! That’s right, not a single drop of ink was put to paper for this baby. The major reason for this was due to the writer’s strike, however it could wind up being lemonade from lemons (if Falcon pulls it off). Here’s what he’s promising:

1) Due to the Hollywood strikes, the film contains no script, treatment, or guidelines; the entire project is improv.
2) The film will contain a mixture of cinematic scenes and real life actual home video footage. (Falcon’s goal is to give the sense of realism blending the actual home video footage with a filmed make-believe psychopathic love story.)
3) THE DIARY OF MICHAEL RICHARD PAUL will redefine the term INDEPENDENT FILM. Falcon has called it a solo project, literally, a project of one.

Well, my curiosity is piqued. If only we had a little taste of DIARY’s plot… oh, wait, we totally do!

The story deals with a man’s struggle with solitude, loss of love, and the effect physical contact and affection (or lack there of) will have on a man. If you look deep enough into the title, the answers about the film are all included. This is a love story at its heart, but it’s such a dark love story. It will take you to the depths of hell before you find anything redeeming.”

The flick wrapped last week and it’s looking to hit up the 2008 festival circuit. I’ll give you more as I hear it.
