With all the hubbub lately concerning the two contending Snow White films, it seems we’ve forgotten about HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, Paramount’s foray into the world of re-imagined fairy tales. But no longer!
Joining the already cast Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton will be the delectable Famke Janssen (TAKEN, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND). Renner and Arterton will play the titular siblings that go on to become witch-bustin’ bounty hunters, while Janssen will be portraying the leader of said witches.
The dark, action re-telling of the Germanic fairy tale – from DEAD SNOW director Tommy Wirkola – “follows the sibling pair into adulthood, having survived their early encounter with the gingerbread house, and grown into full-time killers of witches.”
While no release date has yet been set, Paramount is pushing to have HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS begin production in early March to take advantage of Renner’s break between M:I – GHOST PROTOCOL and THE AVENGERS.
