Deaden Canadian premiere – Fantasia

Last Saturday saw the Canadian premiere of
DEADEN
at the FANTASIA FILM FESTIVAL
and here are my thoughts as to how it went. There’s an old saying that goes:
you’re never a success in your home town (is it an old saying or did
I invent it; not sure) and it was with that in mind that I approached this
screening. Yup, I was expecting the worse, hence I sailed the seven seas
with Captain Morgan  beforehand. Great Captain! Better
sailor! Once there, I was somewhat surprised to see that people did show up
at the screening (more than I expected to be honest) and they sounded like
they were enjoying the movie. The crowd laughed at the right spots, clapped
at the kills and the overall energy about the room was a positive one. I
was relieved.

Director/Editor/Producer Christian Viel answering
questions…

On a technical aspect; the film’s sound was amazing; every gun shot acted
as music to my ears! Sadly the image was overblown (projector was set to 200
when it should’ve been set much lower) and by result the flick looked
grainier that it really is. Bugh. Personally I hadn’t seen
DEADEN in its entirety for a while and I finally TRULY got to see it with
enough distance from it i.e. for what it was. Flaws were in tow no doubt but
the flick rolled out smooth, kicked ass and I was particularly blown away by
the editing job on it. Viel spent about a year editing this puppy and it so
showed! He outdid himself in my opinion. Props again bro!

JoBlo possee: Ben Barna, JoBlo, Tim Goernert. You
guys rock!

After the screening some of the cast and crew met up up at O Reagan’s
(Irish Pub) for drinks and so did JoBlo.com staffers and peeps who had seen
the film. The vibe in the house was again very positive and personally it
was a blast to hang out with everybody, get sloshed and talk shit. One of
the best times I’ve had going out this year! NOTE: For everybody that asked
me where I went after I left the bar – I just followed the booze and wound up all over downtown. The
next day I went canoeing up North to nurse that hang over and reap the rewards of nature – sorry for the
disappearing act – its just the way it went. With that said,  I’d like
to thank Fantasia for having the film play there, Fantasia’s Simon for doing a fine job
at streamlining the screening and everybody who showed up for the film & drinks afterwards. The support was mucho appreciated by this jerk
and Viel’s and JoBlo’s camp too I’m sure! Here are some pics of the night!

Trying to look as badass as Andy Bradshaw and
Marcello Bezina. I failed ; )

Thanks for forgetting your tomatoes at home guys!

Its not a party without the "tongue"! I never leave
home without it.

HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YA AT THE RECON 2022 PREMIERE!
