You might not know this, but there are no more FANTASTIC FOUR comics on the stands – or more accurately for today's youths – no longer available for digital download. Marvel claims the books just weren't selling, and that the concept is too outdated for today's market. But is that true?
According to FANTASTIC FOUR comic writer Jonathan Hickman – who also penned their last official outing in SECRET WAR – said "of course not". He went on to say:
Not only because my personal experience is that it's not true, but the idea behind that conceit is that the core concept is somehow broken. Which is nonsense…it’s pretty common knowledge at this point that Marvel isn’t publishing Fantastic Four because of their disagreement with Fox.
This seems to be the consensus ever since the absence of the FANTASTIC FOUR comics, but it's nice to hear someone close to the situation out-and-out state it. True, he is coming from the comic world and not the film world, but it would be hard not to have some inside knowledge. Furthermore, it seems that it's not a big "fuck you" to FOX for owning the rights necessarily (since Marvel is still running X-MEN and DEADPOOL comics, properties also owned by FOX), but rather the way FOX handled the FANTASTIC FOUR film properties in particular. Which is hard to disagree with – though cancelling the title seems a bit much.

Meanwhile, no new FANTASTIC FOUR film is on the slate yet, but expect an announcement soon if FOX wants to keep the rights and keep fucking with Marvel.
