Fatal Attraction series for Paramount+ will star Lizzy Caplan

Fatal Attraction, series, Paramount+, Lizzy Caplan

It was revealed earlier this year that Paramount was developing a variety of TV shows for the Paramount+ streaming service, diving deep into their library of iconic brands such as Love Story, Flashdance, The Italian Job, The Parallax View, and Fatal Attraction. It’s now been reported that the streaming service has given the Fatal Attraction series a formal order and has tapped Lizzy Caplan (Castle Rock) with starring in the remake.

The new Fatal Attraction series has been described as a deep-dive reimagining of the psychosexual thriller and will explore themes including marriage and infidelity through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders and coercive control. Lizzy Caplan will play Alex, the role played by Glenn Close in the original movie, a woman who becomes obsessed with her lover after a brief affair. I can’t say that I’m exactly enthused about Paramount giving all these movies the reboot treatment, but I am loving that casting. Alexandra Cunningham (Dirty John) will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the Fatal Attraction series.

Alexandra brings an incredibly strong and nuanced point of view to a story that became a cultural phenomenon but has thus far only been told from the male gaze,” said Nicole Clemens, president of original scripted series at Paramount+. “Partnered with Kevin [J. Haynes], they will bring the next explosive chapter of this story to a new generation with a balanced eye to the complexities of the human psyche.” It’s not known when production on the Fatal Attraction series will begin or when it will debut on Paramount+. This will actually be the second attempt at adapting Fatal Attraction for television as Fox previously tapped Maria and André Jacquemetton (Mad Men) with penning the script for the potential series. The project wound up being scrapped several years later.
