Fear not, the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer doesn’t spoil too much

Upon the release of the full-length trailer for JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, select fans were left worrying that the trailer had perhaps revealed too much about the film's plot. The big to-do about this sequel is that the dinosaurs must be evacuated from the Jurassic World theme park, before a volcanic eruption has the potential to make them go extinct, once again. In the trailer, we get to see what looks like plenty of carnage from when the eruption occurs. This footage seems to have left select fans baffled, as they felt the material looked like scenes pulled from the second and third acts of the film.

After a concerned fan tweeted to Colin Trevorrow about the trailer footage, the JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM writer responded by posting the following:

As is happens, the natural disaster that occurs on the island of Isla Nubar in J. A. Bayona's film takes place several years after the events of JURASSIC WORLD. The movie features Chris Pratt's Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing returning to the ruins of the park to rescue the prehistoric beasts before they join Little Foot's mother in that big dinosaur prairie in the sky. “Claire’s founded an organization, Dinosaur Protection Group, and they’re finding a way to get these dinosaurs off the island,” Howard recently told EW“She reaches out to Owen Grady to let him know this is happening.”

Additionally, Bayona spoke to EW about getting to work with Jeff Goldblum, and to be in the presence of his Ian Malcolm character, “I had to overcome the impact of being in front of Ian Malcolm,” Bayona told EW. “After so many years, Jeff Goldblum was in front of a camera again talking about dinosaurs!”

I guess, uh … fate, finds a way.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM will stomp into theaters come June 22, 2018.
