Fear the Invisible Man: H.G. Wells story-inspired period action thriller on the way

There’s a new movie called Fear the Invisible Man coming our way – and we should note right up front that this has nothing to do with Universal’s Invisible Man franchise, which was recently revived with an excellent film from Leigh Whannell (watch that HERE). In fact, Fear the Invisible Man is currently being presented to potential distributors by 101 Films International. But just like Universal’s original Invisible Man movie, this project was inspired by the 1897 H.G. Wells novel.

Directed by Paul Dudbridge from a script written by Philip Daay and based on a concept from Monika Gergelova, Fear the Invisible Man is described as being a “period action thriller”. It tells the following story:

Adeline, a young British woman, shelters an old medical school colleague, a man who has somehow turned himself invisible. As his isolation grows and his sanity frays, he schemes to create a reign of wanton murder and terror across the city – and Adeline’s the only one who knows that he even exists.

The film stars Mhairi Calvey (Braveheart), David Hayman (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas), Mark Arnold (Teen Wolf), and Mike Beckingham (Truth Seekers).

Produced by M and M Film Productions, Fear the Invisible Man was filmed in England, with locations including Bristol, Gloucester, and Bath. Gergelova produced alongside Malcolm Winter and Michael Riley. Dudbridge is co-producer.

101’s Andy Lyon told Variety the filmmakers

have done an incredible job on the movie and personally I can’t wait to see the final version. It’s one of the world’s most favourite stories, proven by the 2020 telling of this story, which grossed more than $140 million at the box office and still sits today in some of the top streaming spots on the planet.”

Dudbridge previously directed the web series Horizon, which was then edited down into a feature film in 2019.
