While I was unsurprised when
WHITE NOISE 2: THE LIGHT was announced (Directed by Patrick Luissier
of Dracula 2000 and Scream fame), I certainly couldn’t muster any enthusiasm for it.
Tough to have high hopes for a sequel to an uninspired, PG-13 original. I may have to check my cynicism now, though, since The Hollywood Reporter shares today that Nathan Fillion is set to star.
There are certain actors that you know will elevate whatever project they are in, and Fillion is one of them. He’s got the impressive ability to go tough and goofy, often within the same scene. Joining him is likely to be Katee Sackhoff from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. While I’m unfamiliar with her work, the name alone is enough to make me a fan.
In case you’ve missed it earlier, here’s the concept for the second flick – A man’s family is murdered, but he is brought back from the brink of death. The man realizes he has changed and can now identify those among the living who are about to die. When he tries to save people from their fate, he discovers there is a price to pay for interfering with the natural order.
So while I can’t go so far as saying I’m looking forward to the sequel, I will upgrade my expectations to cautiously optimistic.
