Last year things weren't looking good for the planned big screen take on the Stephen King novel IT, with Cary Fukunaga leaving the project over creative differences shortly after Warner Bros. shifted the movie to its New Line division. It didn't take long for the adaptation to find a new director though in the form of MAMA helmer Andy Muschietti, who recently took to Instagram to announce that shooting has finally begun for the adaptation.
It seems the adaptation will still be split into two movies as originally planned, with part one featuring the main characters as children and the second film picking up with those same characters as adults. Hemlock Grove's Bill Skarsgard is taking over for Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown, while other cast members include Jaeden Liberher as Bill Denbrough, Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben Hanscom, Wyatt Oleff as Eddie Kaspbrak, Finn Wolfhard as Richie Tozier, Jack Grazer as Stan Uris and Chosen Jacobs as Mike Hanlon.
IT is scheduled to open on September 8, 2017.
