I’m a big fan of David Fincher’s, so the news coming in today has me very excited. This news has David Fincher tackling a genre project with attitude.
The project is called THE GOON and is based off the comic of the same name. The comic’s official website announced today that director/producer extraordinaire David Fincher has picked up the film rights to THE GOON. Not only that, but BLUR Studio and Dark Horse Entertainement are also on board, BLUR being an Academy Award nominated studio. The group are looking to make THE GOON into a CG animated movie.
The comics center on the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest.
The comic has some very positive buzz going for it, so color me stoked! It’s being noted that Fincher has a knack for picking up comic rights and letting them sit on the shelf for a long ass time… let’s hope this isn’t the case with THE GOON! Either way I’m thinking I’ll be picking up these comics sometime soon. As always, we’ll keep you updated.
