While we’ve seen a few behind-the-scenes stills from the flick, here’s an image from LORDS OF SALEM that Rob Zombie has deemed the first “official” one. (Check out the full image below.) Zombie accompanied the picture with the following text:
Here it is! The first image from the film THE LORDS OF SALEM and that’s all I will say. Okay, I will say that the scene that involves this face is very painful.
Could it be that the inside of that mask is filled with uncomfortably sharp and pointy things? Guess we’re not going to find out for a while. The film, which is being produced by the folks behind PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, is currently in pre-production in Massachusetts, with an eye toward commencing principal photography later this month. We don’t know if any cast is in place as of now, but I’d imagine some announcements on that front are coming soon.
What we know about the plot: The story is about a local DJ who mistakenly unleashes a hellish curse on the town. 300 years earlier on the very streets of Salem that the townspeople walk on today, innocent folks were rounded up from their homes, convicted of being witches and sentenced to death. The Lords of Salem ran the town with an iron fist, but four witches who were tortured and killed in secrecy vowed that one day they would be back for revenge.
Expect the flick to hit sometime in 2012.
