This sure is nice timing; our first look at Jennifer Lawrence from her autumn release HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET has been issued by Relativity Media only a few days after Lawrence’s new movie, something called THE HUNGER GAMES, has blown everyone away at the box office.

Lawrence’s follow-up is said to essentially be the teen-friendly version of PSYCHO in a manner similar to the way DISTURBIA was clearly “inspired” by (or straight-up ripping off) REAR WINDOW. Normally that wouldn’t be very interesting, but Lawrence has already shown that she’s being quite smart about her career; perhaps this will be one HOUSE worth entering.

HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET, which also stars Elisabeth Shue, Max Thieriot and Gil Bellows, goes like this:

Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar-nominee Elisabeth Shue; Leaving Las Vegas, Piranha 3D) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; X-Men: First Class, Winter’s Bone) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. Years earlier, in the house next door, a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared – leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot, My Soul to Take), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah’s wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan – and the closer they get, the deeper they’re all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

Directed by Mark Tonderai from a screenplay and story by David Loucka and Jonathan Mostow, respectively, HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET opens everywhere on SEPTEMBER 21st.
