First poster for Lee Daniels’ THE PAPERBOY shows creepy John Cusack

John Cusack doesn’t look happy in this decidedly retro poster for Lee Daniels’ THE PAPERBOY.

The director of PRECIOUS is back with another dark film with a much different premise. Based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Pete Dexter (“Deadwood”), the film is about a “a directionless young man [who] helps his reporter brother investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a man on death row, and in the process, falls for the woman whom the convict has been romancing through prison correspondence.”

The whole concept of women being attracted to men in jail never manages to intrigue me- there’s been countless cases of convicted serial killers and other disgusting individuals starting up relationships and even getting married while in jail.

Definitely great material for a thriller, though, and can’ wait to see Cusack’s turn as the villain. Expect THE PAPERBOY to hit sometime next year.
