We’ve seen the crazy hair and outfits in stills for David O. Russell‘s AMERICAN HUSTLE, but we’ve yet to see all that nostalgia in action until now. Today, GMA premiered the trailer, which plays a lot like a Martin Scorsese film. There’s very little in the way of dialogue or story, but that doesn’t preclude this from looking like all sorts of awesome. It’s a relatively spoiler-free affair, but chock full of ass shaking, popping, and spanking, all amidst the glitz and glam of big hair and gaudy jewelry that populated the late ’70’s and early ’80’s.

Good times, bad times:

This is a fictionalized account of the real-life ABSCAM sting operation, which had the F.B.I. working with real-life con men to help target trafficking of stolen property and public corruption. With Russell’s sensibilities and a stunning cast that includes Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Jennifer Lawrence, this looks to be a tremendous follow up to the director’s last outing, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK.

AMERICAN HUSTLE starts the con on December 25, 2013.
