First trailer for thriller, The Call, starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin

The new thriller, THE CALL (formerly THE HIVE) starring Halle Berry, Abigail Breslin, and Morris Chestnut, has unveiled its first trailer and it’s got a familiar vibe to it.  Directed by Brad Anderson (THE MACHINIST) the film follows a 9/11 dispatcher (Berry) who is drawn into a killer from her past in order to save a young girl. It’s an intensely cut trailer that hits all the beats we’ve come to expect from thrillers like this, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

It looks compelling enough, even if they reveal every story beat in the trailer, and Berry looks amazing as always.  Could it be a potential return to the limelight for the actress?

Check it out:

This one could go either way, I think.  It could be a forgettable cookie-cutter thriller or a crowd-pleasing jaunt. One thing is for sure, though, and that’s that Berry could use a hit.

THE CALL dials in to theaters on March 13, 2013.
